We have one goal here at Gone Missing and that is to create awareness of people who have Gone Missing here in the UK & Northern Ireland.
Awareness Practices
- We create posters of missing people for the public to share on social media or print to display in the physical world.
- Push notifications is the second way we aim to create awareness of those that have gone missing.
Push Notification Steps
- Read these steps then click the Subscribe button below
- Once you’ve clicked the Subscribe button below, you will be diverted to another page that will display a list of counties in the UK & Northern Ireland.
- Tick the boxes of the area relevant to you, then (VERY IMPORTANT) scrolldown to the bottom of the counties list and click “Count Me In”.
- You will then see a second opt in box pop up, click “ALLOW” in that box.
That’s it, you have subscribed to receive notifications of missing people within your selected area/s.
To see the second opt in box you may need to unblock your notification settings in your browser else opting in will not work.
Please note, the push notifications will only be delivered to the devise that you opted in on, so if you wish to receive notifications on multiple devises you will need to opt in on each devise, for example laptop, mobile phone etc.
What happens next?
From here, when a report comes in of a missing person/s, we will create a Missing Person poster and send a push notification to the people in the relevant area.
The idea is to get as many people from each county as possible to subscribe to push notifications.
For example, if say 1,000 people in Lancashire subscribe to that area, then a missing person from Lancashire gets reported we will then create a poster and send a missing person notification to those people subscribed in Lancashire.
This is a quick way to create awareness for those closest to where a missing person has been reported. This means people in say Lancashire who are out shopping, waiting at a train station, on a bus, basically doing their daily thing, may receive a notification of a missing person and can keep their eyes peeled while doing their daily thing.
This method of creating awareness instantly puts eyes on the streets in the areas nearby.
Seen a Missing Person?
If you believe you have relevant information regarding a missing person, we urge you to contact the police as soon as possible using the information displayed on the poster of the missing person.
What this site is NOT
- We are not part of the police force
- We are not investigators
- We do not speculate or dig into why people may be missing, or who has taken them
- We do not organize or conduct official searches
- We do not ask for payment from users under any circumstances
The sole aim is to make safe those that have gone missing and bring them home through creating awareness, or they can be guided to helpful places if needed to be by the police.
